Hi there. Thank you for visiting my blog.

‘Wokking it’ is a wordplay on ‘rocking it’ and ‘working it’ and is an attempt at sharing photos and recipes of convenient, healthy, and frugal home-cooked vegetarian/pescetarian fare crafted in our kitchen in our little London flat.

The blog contains trial-and-error recipes and easy-to-follow instructions to create visually appealing bento lunches. I was first drawn to bento-making having read Totto-Chan: The Little Girl at the Window, a children’s book written by acclaimed author Tetsuko Kuroyanagi. The book details Totto-chan’s experience at school run by a visionary headmaster who was ahead of his time. He would insist on his pupils’ lunch boxes to contain “something from the ocean and something from the hills”. For me, that is the very idea of a bento box: healthy, balanced, delicious, and something to look forward to in your lunch hour.

My boyfriend and cousin contribute ideas or take over the cooking when I am too lazy. Together, we hope to create and inspire beautiful, delicious, and healthy cooking.

Thanks for reading and ‘wok’ on!

Love,
The Wokking It team
